I had a couple of these sets built, I'm selling one to pay for the other. This listing is for a Grade A curly figured mango tele/esquire built by a friend of mine for me that was at one time employee of the year at Fender Custom Shop and just recently took 5 guitars to NAMM, for Fernandez I believe. I don't want to throw his name around but verification/name and contact info can be done after the sale if you like. More specific questions can be asked at that time, I'm a player and not much of a builder. I can say that from being the gofer for 1 1/2 years while this was being built that no corners were cut.The slab wood for the body was chosen by myself and another friend who owns a mill here on Big Island. It was then cut (one piece slab) and put together to exact '52 tele specs other than being routed for a strat neck. I like to have the option of a strat or tele neck option on my teles. All high end and/or vintage parts were used- a '73 tele pickup that sounds so sweet. I had a '52 tele pickup for this project but it turned out to be bunk! Orange drop and bumble bee in the wiring which was done custom. 'I came up with this circuit, I wired this like I used to wire Esquires for my old boss at..." The three way switch allows for a hard-wire tele sound, a bluesy/jazzy sound and a mildly dirty sound. I love it. The body has a 3D appearance, that is why I took most pictures with a flash. There is the basic unique mango grain that includes shades of "black-heart on the on both ends of the body's back side, giving it a subtle of racing stripe. Then there is the curl/figuring above the grain that has a tiger stripe effect which pops out pleasantly in mostly horizontal stripes across the body especially in the area where the pickguard would be when playing. The finish is ten coats and hand rubbed, not sprayed, it makes a stunning presentation. (this guitar took 1 1/2 years to build) The neck is an E series Dan Smith strat neck, I believe it is marked '82 on the heel. The builder was not happy with this neck at all. He spent 'way too much time getting it up to spec.' Although it has an "E" on the headstock it is strait, crowned, dressed and as been choked so it 'feels and plays like a strait, fast worn in 60's neck." Like a few guitars of the many I've owned, my fingers get sucked onto the fretboard when playing this guitar- the neck seems to be in charge of my hand. In full transparency, in order to dial in this neck all the tension on the truss had to be used. If you would like to purchase this set sans neck I would knock off $750 and ship without the Amazon cheapo tweed Fender MIA case (That at least has a key) but it would be a shame because in my own opinion and the builder's, this guitar is set up perfectly. Sans pickup I will knock off $200 but the guitar will come without strings.I dislike reading postings that have an "oversell" theme like someone is selling a used car. That is not the case here. This guitar is ready for a pro-touring at the highest level, play it on stage at the Grammy's, etc. This guitar got way more attention than any guitar that would come out of a Custom Shop.To match the guitar I had a dove-tailed solid mango amp cab made from a single slab other than the trim by another friend. this cab will last forever unless burned! I have played through this amp regularly for a year so it is good to go but the cabinet does have a few extremely mild signs of wear. Mango is a very hard wood so it is hard to ding, but if that should happen to this cab all that needs to be done in ten years is a sanding/refinishing like a piece of furniture. There is no handle because in a way it is a piece of furniture! But I will include a "Dog-Bone" if requested. The amp itself is a 60's Silvertone 1431. 5 watts with the highjacked tweed Champ circuit that has made these amps so popular in studios. I believe the speaker is original- which isn't saying much and all tubes are stock. It has a three prong cord with a modification that allows it to be run through a bigger cab or an attenuator if you want to overdrive the tubes to get the "tone" while playing in the living room etc without a pedal. I've had a few vintage tweed Champs but not at the time this cab was made or currently. Obviously this cab could be used to hold any smaller combo you prefer.I have listed this guitar at a higher price than I would like but the cab is not light and imagine this will all weigh around 40lbs once packed. To me it's worth $2500 after fees and shipping. It is priced so it will probably fall below that a bit but it will be close enough. The shipping will be free and its coming from Hawaii.I have described two price drop options above, please do not ask me for a "best offer" or to split up the guitar from the amp. They are a set and the price is firm.Mahalo Hui!Sonny
