This auction is for a pair of Peavey CEX-5L Digital Processors (Electronic Crossovers) mounted in an aluminum framed Road case.  These units were lightly used, and are very clean, and in excellent operating condition. They were taken out of service because of a major system reconfiguration. The rear connection panel has two XLR input connectors, one for each unit. The outputs are via a 37-pin Gepco multi-pin connector (with gold plated pins).  There is a single Hubbell power input connector which supplies AC power to both units. The CEX-5L was part of the Peavey Architectural Acoustics line and was designed primarily for permanent installations. As such, it has a European Phoenix type connector which is awkward for pro-audio road applications. The rear panel connector mates to a an approximately 4 foot multi-pair cable  with multi-pin connectors on each end. This cable connects to another Gepco multi-pin connector on a 2-rack space panel with wires to power amps, and output XLR's. All multi-pin connectors, cable and terminating panel are included in the package. If you have a PA system, and you are looking to upgrade to full digital loudspeaker processing, this is a bargain unit for you.  These units offer 24 and 48 dB / octave crossovers in three popular formats. Also included, are limiters on every output, adjustable for differing amplifier input sensitivities. There is adjustable maximum bandwidth capability on each output, as well as any crossover frequency desired. Input and output levels are fully adjustable, and metered with LED's.We used this unit for three-way mains loudspeakers, with a separate output for sub-woofers. You can use any configuration with two inputs and four outputs:  two-way stereo, three way, four way, or three-way with sub-woofer with adjustable sub-woofer bandwidth.

This unit literally replaces a rack full of EQ's, compressors limiters, signal processors and crossovers.  And it does it with considerable grace:  These units feature 20 bit parallel processing which gives your audio output plenty of sparkle, life, and 'air.'  It does not sound 'processed.'  There are two drawbacks on these units, and I want to address them both:  First of all, the Peavey name is on them. For a lot of folks in pro-audio, that's all they need to hear. The truth is, when Hartley Peavey decided he wanted to produce a digital line of gear, he went out and hired the best designers in the business. And they made a line called Architectural Acoustics which sells in stadiums and other massive installations, for serious bux. These units, are small rack mount derivations from that series of designs. They are first-rate units and compare favorably with the best in the business. So don't let your prejudices about the Peavey name keep you from experiencing their fine performance.Second, they have an Achilles heel:  The memory circuit is held by a little memory back-up battery. Many units sold on E-Bay have not been serviced. These units have had the batteries replaced, and should be good for several years of successful operation. These are fully operation units, NOT as is "for parts only."This package originally sold for $3500. (including the two processors, road case, and custom panels).  We are asking $599 for it.  Please feel free to ask any questions you might have, and we'll attempt to answer them promptly. A copy of the Peavey manual is included.
