Archaic Audio Auctions VINTAGE 1970s APHEX EQF-2 PARAMETRIC EQUALIZER PAIR 500 SERIES EQ W/ JENSEN USA + MATCHED PAIR + MADE FOR FOUNDER + FREE SHIPPING USA + For your consideration is this excellent example of a matched pair of vintage 1970s Aphex EQF-2 500-series equalizers built for founder and former president of Aphex Systems, Marvin Ceasar, consecutive serial numbers MARV-30 & MARV-31. These units are in excellent cosmetic and perfect working condition. Well taken care of in a recording studio environment. Units were re-capped about 10 years ago by Aphex technicians, and recently upgraded with new Jensen transformers installed by Avedis. Original boxes included. Please see pics. Made in USA.Aphex EQF-2 Equalizers were originally designed in order to compete with the API 550A & 550B 500-series console equalizers. I would say that they're not quite as punchy as 550's, but they do have a sonic character or color that sounds great in their own right. They can shape sounds just as drastically as a 550A with 12dB of gain and 12dB of reduction, but since the gain and frequency knobs are sweepable, they can carve more than 550s are capable of. Excellent on electric and acoustic guitars, piano, drums, anything really.These EQ's are a secret weapon for the money. I've already seen the price increase over the past 5 years, and as more people find out that there's an affordable vintage 500-series EQ out there that sounds fantastic, the price will no-doubtly continue to rise.
