For your perusal, a very cool Gibson EB-3 bass dating from 1963. All parts are original to this bass. All nickel hardware, original mute mechanism, smooth tuning keys, funky bakelite varitone knob. Nicely worn and used condition (see photos /ask questions)
It has a 'stinger' on the back of the headstock (black paint) this is how Gibson used to change the serial number (the old number can be made out underneath) if there was a modification. This is quite a rare occurrence and definitely adds a little bit of individuality and desirability.
The neck is the more sort after, wider nut (1.72") with a short (30.5") scale. The truss rod is freely operational and the neck fully adjustable. The frets have a few dips but plenty of life left on them, a fret level wouldn't harm it, although I would leave it as is (so I have). It has had a crack repaired at the input socket, this is quite a common occurrence with the front input. This is now stable, solid and hardly noticeable. All electronics work without crackles or issues. The pickups are strong and sound as good as they should. The lacquer has got dings as you would expect from a well used professional instrument, the back of the neck has turned a lighter yellow from use, but there are no structural issues whatsoever. This is an extremely fun to play, great sounding and damn cool looking vintage Gibson bass. What more do you need? Check the bands that used these basses: Cream, Rolling Stones, Kinks, Velvet Underground, Bowie's Spiders From Mars, Free... It goes on. Comes with non original hard shell case.
