Description
I was inspired when I played through a Victoria Double Deluxe in a music store a while back. It was the best-sounding amp in the "premium" room by far and I started looking for one I could afford. Meanwhile, I learned that a kit was offered at tedweber dot com and decided to build it. I ordered without speakers and built the amp per the supplied layout and schematic. The amp was very loud and clean and I later changed V1 to a 12AY7 to lower the gain a little. Here are some changes I made:-Treated the tweed with 2 coats of Minwax satin Honey Pine urethane.
-Installed a pair of 4-Ohm Jensen Neo 12-100 speakers for weight reduction
-Increased the power supply capacitance
-Added 470 Ohm screen resistors on the power tubes
-Added a high-tension fuse
-Added a circuit with a stacked tone control and some parts to isolate the channels (a well-known issue with Tweed Deluxe amps)
-Installed a Weber Copper Cap, a substitute for the rectifier that provides 'sag' while preserving energy that is wasted with a rectifier tube
-Installed a longer power cord. Will be packed well and shipped by FedEx.
