Description
1953 Fender Telecaster Black Guard! Always a thrill to present a real Black Guard for sale. This guitar is mostly original, but has had some mods in the past which have been corrected. The body and neck are refinished by Fiesta Finishes™ in correct nitrocellulose lacquer. Both pickup cavities were slightly enlarged in the past for some rectangular, but shallow, pickups. The floors of the pickup cavities are original since the routes were not deep. The neck had been stained red, and there is a slight amount of red residue in the pores of the wood as we did not want to sand the neck beyond its original shape. The bridge pickup is an original '53 Fender lap steel converted for use in Telecaster and is otherwise identical to the original. The neck pickup is a '51 NoCaster Custom Shop re-issue. The original bridge (included) had been sawed off (see photo), and a reproduction, with the same serial number, was custom made for the project.Original parts include: Body (refinished), Neck (refinished), knobs, pots (304 325), Neck plate and screws, switch, switch tip, tone capacitor, black guard (repaired route).Reproduction aged parts include: Tuners, bridge (original modified bridge included), neck pickup. The serial number is 2466. The neck date is 11-53, the body date is 12-53. The guitar weighs 7.5 lbs. The neck pickup measures 7.0K Ohms, the bridge pickup measures 5.9K Ohms.'53 Teles are highly prized for their big necks and this guitar does not disappoint. The neck measures .857" at 1st fret and .975" at 12th fret. The guitar ships in a slightly worn, vintage 80's Fender re-issue tweed case. This is a fantastic Black Guard at a reasonable price. If you covet a Black Guard, but don't have $40K, don't sit on your thumbs. I don't imagine this one will last long... it's a great guitar!Satisfaction guaranteed. Keep the guitar for 48 hours, and if not fully satisfied, return for a full refund minus shipping charge. We recognize that further details may need to be provided to the prospective buyer on this guitar. If you are serious, feel free to call us at the shop to answer any further questions.Listing may end at any time as the guitar is also being offered on Gbase and Reverb.
