Description
Up for sale, a RARE 1979 Music Man Sabre fretless electric bass in excellent, 100% original condition and perfect working order. Introduced in 1978 as a more versatile bass option than their mainstay, single pickup Sting Ray, the Sabre boasts dual hum bucking pickups which, although slightly smaller physically than the Sting Ray pickup, feature essentially the same construction and materials, and sound very similar. What also sets the Sabre apart from its sibling is its own unique preamp design, with Bass and Treble EQ knobs for both boost and cut, as well as a bright switch and a phase reversal switch, making for an incredibly versatile instrument. Featuring the classic alder and maple tone wood combination, this bass has a bell-like upper midrange, and warm pleasing low end that translates well through the pickups, while the preamp allows you to dial in plenty of treble zing, or as much warm low end as you'd need, while also allowing you to dial back the bass for a tight, cutting, well defined sound. Weighing in at 10lbs 7oz, this bass plays well with low action and round wound strings. The one-piece hard rock maple 3 bolt neck with that orange Vintage look only gotten from time, it has a medium C profile that leans towards the slimmer side of things, with a 1 11/16" nut width. The neck has nicely rounded shoulders, feeling solid and substantial with a smooth gloss finish. The veneer rosewood fret board boasts black side dots and factory fret makers is a very pretty and stripy cut of rosewood that adds an unmistakable warmth to the tone. The fret board itself shows no wear, and the truss rod is responsive, providing ideal action and relief. The headstock sports the Gold Music Man Sabre Bass decal with "made in usa" and TM prior to Sabre bass logo, string tree on the D and G strings, and the stock 3+1 Music Man branded Schaller tuning machines that turn smoothly and hold pitch well. Pre amp and pots are all original and dated to 1979.All of the electronics work as they should, and both pickups have healthy output. The original bridge is intact C000xxx as shown in pics. The chrome shows only light surface wear, and even the original individual string mutes are included, with stock foam that has hardened over time (but could easily be replaced if desired). Overall, this is a very clean and original bass, professionally setup and ready to be played!STUDIO OWNERS, PLAYERS,TOURING....THIS THE MOST VERSATILE BASS I HAVE EVERY PLAYED.....PLEASE READ OUR FEEDBACK 100% FOR ONE REASON SINCE 1999 FAIR PRICING AND COOL ITEMS......GOOD LUCK WITH BIDDINGA vintage 1974 Fender P bass case is included ( seen sell for $250.00).
