All original vintage Ludwig Supra Phonic snare drum -- chrome over brass (COB). Keystone pre-serial number badge, early 1960s or late 50s. 14 x 5 size.Highly collectible drum. Beautiful example of this appreciating classic.Original drum with excellent chrome finish. 10 lugs per side. Original throw off and butt plate, original red pad internal muffler with external control baseball bat lever, original lugs, original hoops. Shell exterior is very clean/mirror-like finish with no pitting. A few very very slight surface scratches (hardly noticeable) and one minor ding on the side of the shell near the batter hoop. Lugs, throw off, butt plate and other external surface areas are very clean. Shell interior and bearing edges are very clean. Newer Remo coated batter head and what appears to be the original Ludwig WeatherMaster reso head.A couple of items to note:1. A previous owner apparently tried to shave down/smooth the snare beds on both sides of the drum/resonate side.2. At some point in its history the side of the drum near the baseball bat muffler lever was pushed up against something hard and as a result there is a very slight indentation on the upper hoop and the side of the shell in this area -- again hardly noticeable. As you know these brass shells are relatively soft and more susceptible to shell indentations than conventional steel shells. The above issues do not negatively affect the performance and sound and performance of this drum -- it delivers exceptionally crisp and responsive tone with outstanding tunability and wide tuning range. Minus these relatively slight imperfections, a COB Supras in this condition and from this era prices well above my BIN price today's market. Pricing this one to shell -- respectable offers will be considered.
