I purchased this bassoon used with the hopes of learning (I am a flute player). Plans have changed. From all I was told and the research I did, the Fox model IV is the best non-wood (polypropylene) bassoon money can buy - great sound, mechanism (complete with high D key) and tuning, without the worry of cracking like with a wood instrument.This bassoon seems to play well as-is, but I'm sure would benefit from a servicing. No glaring problems, damage, ripped pads, etc. That being said this is an as is sale. New cost on this model is over $5,000, so even after a bit of work it will be a steal!Includes hard case, unmarked bocal, seat strap, and reed case.
