For sale is another wonderful solid silver handmade gem from Wm. Richards of New York. Richards ran the Badger shop and was trained by the master. This is evident in this gorgeous vintage instrument that likely dates from the 1920s. It has the look of an antique flute (especially the super thin walls of the tubing and the wood crown and cork mechanism), but with a sounding length of 603mm (same as the Haynes flutes of the period), it plays easily at modern pitch (a=440). The flute is all silver in construction with soldered toneholes and gold springs. Light as a feather, it plays oh so sweetly with a warm rather than bright tone. Mechanically it is in great playing condition following a complete overhaul by Pat Nash of Mynett Music. All in all, the flute looks very nice and plays even better.Comes in what might well be its original case in fair condition. The latches work, and the case protects the flute adequately. This is a very lovely vintage instrument built by a master craftsman, and having been brought back to life, deserves to be played and enjoyed! If you are aficionado of the classic handmade flutes of the past, you will love this fine instrument!!!
