1964 Hofner Bass 500/1
Estimated price for orientation: 3 500 $
Category: Bass Guitars
Class:
Description Brand: Hofner Body Type: Hollow Dexterity: Right-Handed Exact Year: 1964 String Configuration: 4 String Country/Region of Manufacture: Germany
This bass is in excellent condition, it plays great, and all of the electronics are in perfect working order (no dusty crackles or intermittent faults). There are some signs of age, as you can see from the pictures, but all of the imperfections are only minor aesthetic ones. It's only had one owner, and it was in storage for many years. In fact, it still has the original Pyramid flatwounds it came with (!), though they should definitely be replaced. I actually love how dead and thumpy they sound, but the winding is starting to come loose on the E string.Anyway, this belonged to my friend's husband who passed away a few years ago, and I'm helping her sell it. Let me know if you'd like to see any additional pictures or if you have any questions at all. I apologize for not having close-ups of every part of the bass right now. I'll be seeing my friend later this week, and I'll take some when I'm there. It's rare to see a Hofner bass from the early 60s in such great condition, and I'm envious of whoever's able to get it.Oh, and as far as shipping goes, I'll be taking it to Emerald City Guitars here in Seattle to have them help me pack it up properly. They deal with the highest end vintage instruments all the time and definitely know how to get it sent out safely.
