The first Gretsch instruments to be made in Korea were the Historic series. They combined features of vintage models with modern improvements. This unique model was only made in the Fall of 1999. It has a 15" arched top and back full depth hollow body with '30s style cat's eye soundholes and stairstep bridge. The pickup is a modern floating fret-board mounted mini humbucker. The volume and tone controls are mounted on the pick guard. Nothing touches the top leaving it free to resonate as was the style with early Jazz guitars and finer acoustic instruments. It is quite loud acoustically compared to other hollow bodies. The neck has the standard Gibson scale length with pearl thumbnail fret markers, bound rosewood fret board, modern C shaped contour. It is comfortable to play and has a nice bark acoustically. It is strung with custom gauge .012 to .052 nickel round wound strings. This golden guitar is in pristine, barely played condition, not a scratch or mark. It is 100% original, including the Historic Series deluxe padded gig bag with leather patch and truss rod wrench.
