Description
This is an early 1905 Bohland and Fuchs antique trombone with 2 tuning slides. Bohland and Fuchs from Austria are the makers of the world's largest tuba that was a Carl Fischers in New York City for years. It can easily be tuned to 440 with smaller slide and as low as 425 with larger tuning slide for playing with period classical orchestras. Even though the inscription on the lovely engraved bell says MJ Kalashen' s Imperial New York, I was told by a brass historian, Steve Dillon from Dillon Music that Kalashen was a dealer in New York City and ordered this silver plated trombone from Austria where Bohland and Fuchs originated. The slide moves freely as do both tuning slides. I had the tenor mouthpiece shank on the modified screw rim Bach 3 tapered to fit the leadpipe on the slide..smaller than normal. This is truly a collector's trombone and deserves to played because of it's beautiful tone.
