To sum it up, this is a GREAT VALUE because of the Black Lion modification. Black Lion Audio, in Chicago, has created a name for itself by gutting popular, price-point-driven Avid interfaces and replacing the internal components with high end pieces. High-end input and output stages, preamps, op-amps, AD converters, and internal clock. They lift the sonic quality of your gear to a whole different league. I'm not one to buy into hype, which is what I thought it was initially. Then I borrowed a friend's Digi003 which had been Black Lion Modified -- and I found my mixes and tracks were truly more fun to listen to, more fascinating. I'm not going to try to explain it like a wine-tasting comparison, but it's sort of like that. If all you know is cheap wine, you aren't really a believer until you have truly great wine appropriately paired with a truly great dinner. Then you "get it" and regular food is never the same. My experience with Black Lion Audio is similar. I don't know how to explain it, but the difference is sensory and very real. I'm selling this because I have duplication in my studio which I no longer need. Truly, this is a great value if you love sonic excellence. This auction does NOT include the Pro Tools HD Software license. Nor does it include the HD Native (card or Thunderbolt) which is required. I'm listing them separately because people seem to be not buying this gear as a bundle. I'm also selling separately a Black Lion Audio modified 96io and correct cables for attaching to this device, resulting in twelve full simultaneous channels of the best clocking and conversion out there. So check my other listings and consider buying all three: The HD Omni, the HD Native Thunderbolt, and the 96io. If you don't already have Pro Tools HD, you can get it through your local reseller or Sweetwater. You need HD software with these devices, so plan accordingly. And, if you already have Pro Tools HD, you're set. Although the 96io is an older piece of gear, the fact that it's guts have been Black Lion Modified means it is every bit relevant for today. This sale includes the necessary cables to sync the 96io with the HD Omni and HD Native Thunderbolt. It's turnkey with Pro Tools HD software. It's 12 simultaneous channels of premium i/o and clocking.
