Description Product Description The Gibson Hummingbird made its inaugural appearance back in 1960, and ever since, it's been the choice instrument for a wide range of players from all walks of life due to its incredible versatility and its distinctive, upscale style. For the 2016 model year, Gibson Acoustic brings the sonic and visual splendor of their first square-shoulder dreadnought model into the hands of modern players with the Hummingbird Vintage. The Hummingbird Vintage takes the idea of a vintage reissue a step further with the addition of a thermally-aged top and an array of vintage-accurate Hummingbird appointments.Delivering a warm, beautifully balanced, well-played, broken-in sound, the 2016 Hummingbird Vintage pairs mahogany back and sides with a thermally-cured grade-AA Sitka spruce top. By thermally aging the soundboard, Gibson is able to replicate the aging process on a cellular level, giving the Hummingbird Vintage an authentic vintage sound and aesthetic. Also adding to its traditional appeal, the Hummingbird Vintage is adorned with a Vintage Cherry Sunburst lacquer finish to re-create that faded, vintage appearance of an original Cherry Sunburst finish that's aged gracefully for over 50 years. For that classic Gibson feel and playability, the comfortably rounded 24.75 -scale mahogany is topped with a 12 -radius rosewood fingerboard that houses 20 frets and a bone nut with a cozy 1.725 width.Catering to the authentic look, the Hummingbird Vintage comes fitted with a set of gold relic'd period-correct style Gotoh tuning machines and a belly up traditional rosewood bridge with a bone saddle. Of course, the 2016 Hummingbrid Vintage showcases all of the traditional Hummingbird adornments including that unmistakable Hummingbird pickguard, parallelogram mother-of-pearl fingerboard inlays, mother-of-pearl Crown and Gibson Block logo headstock inlays, a Hummingbird truss rod cover, multi-ply top and back binding, and single-ply fingerboard binding.
