These Authentic instruments are all crafted in the same manner as the originals to accurately replicate the tone, feel and look of an actual vintage instrument. Each vintage instrument has been thoroughly measured and X-rayed using a CAT scan machine at the Smithsonian Institute to ensure the utmost accuracy. Taking you back to the Golden Era of C.F. Martin Co., these Martin Authentics utilize hide glue adhesive throughout and employ painstaking, historically-accurate detailing that is unique to the specific vintage instrument that is being replicated. These instruments are truly exquisite, and have been made with the discerning player and vintage-enthusiast in mind.This particular D-18 was modeled after an actual 1939 D-18 that can be found in the Martin Museum. To produce that warm, broken-in vintage sound that you'd typically only hear in an actual vintage instrument, the D-18 Authentic 1939 is made with genuine mahogany back and sides along with a solid Adirondack spruce top and authentic-style 1939 rear-shifted bracing.
