This cocus flute was made circa 1890 (serial number #13218) and refurbished (stopper, crack in the head, F mount block, pewter) by flute maker Tom Aebi (Basel, Switzerland). Its antique value and the fame attached to it, especially so as Matt Molloy played such a flute for many years, will please not only flute collectors but also players in search of an old instrument for, in spite of its almost 130 years of age, it is still in perfect playable conditions.
