This is a very special Gibson SJ-200 Custom from the glory days of the Bozeman Art Shop. This one was hand-built by a luthier named Valerie Bolitho. Valerie was one of three luthiers in the Gibson art shop. Ren Ferguson and Jason Jones were the other two. They spent their days building custom guitars by hand. This guitar features some of the best maple you will ever see in your life - luxuriously quilted maple on the sides and outside wedges, quilted birds-eye maple in the center wedge. The three-piece back really adds a lot to this piece. The flamed-maple neck is the best I've ever seen. The back and sides are finished in a custom rose finish, and the pickguard is finished to match. It's very rare to see a flamed-maple pickguard on an SJ-200.The inlays are top-notch as well. They are mother-of-pearl over jet-black ebony. As you know, Gibson no longer uses ebony when building guitars.I've had this guitar for quite a while now and I haven't been able to bring myself to list it for sale. It's going to be a tough one to part with. It's one of my favorite SJ-200s I've ever owned. The guitar also features abalone purfling on the top, back, and sides. The headstock binding is accentuated by a matching rose red strip - very classy. The truss rod cover is solid mother-of-pearl.The guitar is in near mint condition, having only a few superficial marks and light signs of play.Included with the guitar is the original hardshell case.Feel free to call me with any questions: 435.406.9281
