This 1957 Gibson LG3 came to me with the holes made in the guitar by a previous owner from years ago. Back then every player wanted an electric guitar and (some) people did this to acoustic guitars not realizing future consequences. It probly had an old De Armond in it, However, seeing no damage to the body (except cosmetic), I installed the Baggs M1 pickup with modern self holding feature and input jack and volume control in the mentioned ports. They can be removed and holes plugged but I chose to keep it a player. Some other work done included ebony buttons to the original well functioning Kluson Deluxe tuners, stabilize the pick guard crack and reglue pick guard, reglue original bridge, hand made cow bone nut and saddle, (performed by reputable luthier) ebony strap and bridge pins, finally a chrome strap anchor for the neck at the heel. All original finish. Bumps, marks, wear and checking all collected with age. Good neck angle, medium-low string height, very comfy to play for extended lengths of time. Electrically, acoustic guitar sound is subject to the pickup type and brand it has installed and this little LG is not short of power with the Baggs. It is a passive pickup so it will sound even better through a pre-amp but is not absolutely necessary. Acoustically, this guitar will not only surprise you but you will not want to put it down. in fact I have tried to list it several times in the last 6 months. I get it out in front of the computer and start playing and typing and something happens...(it goes back in the stable). This time I'll do it. I'm trying to allow my 1950 LG2 to take its place but they have two different voices and its hard to let it go. Always kept in a temp and humidity controlled room when not being played. Set up with D'Addario PB EJ19 strings tuned down a half step. Please ask any questions you have. I have sold and shipped a few guitars here so check my feedback. Comes with a nice fitting hard shell case. Shipping and insurance is 75.00 to Con/USA |
