USED Presonus StudioLive 24.4.2 24-channel Digital Mixer with Firewire InterfaceMixing live, or mixing in the studio -- a digital console can help you deliver consistent sound in either environment. The PreSonus StudioLive 24.4.2 is designed to handle both. While every digital console has some onboard effects, only PreSonus replaces stacks of rack gear with acclaimed Fat Channel onboard processing -- and the StudioLive 24.4.2 adds features like an enhanced gate with Key Listen and Key Filter, a threshold control on the limiter, fully-parametric EQ on all 24 inputs, and four dual-mono 31-band graphic EQs assignable to any of four subgroups and impressive 10(!) aux buses. Most obviously, you get 24 class-A XMAX mic preamps on 24 channel strips in a surprisingly compact system. After all, as the name implies, the StudioLive 24.4.2 is built to be a studio-quality mixing console that's equally at home when it's on the road.Have Channels, Will TravelIf the PreSonus StudioLive 24.4.2 were an analog console, it would have channel strips longer than your arm, a massive patch bay bristling with patch cords, and a towering rack of heavy outboard gear. Luckily, PreSonus' innovative Fat Channel is a lot more portable. It's also a lot more user-friendly than some other digital console effects you may have had your hands on. Instead of paging through menus and puzzling over soft keys, just hit the Select button on any channel, sub, or aux to light up that big, bright, easy-to-read and easy-to-reach blue section of the console. Access any of 50 onboard presets for vocals or instruments, or grab the dedicated knobs to dial in your own settings for 43 compressors, 43 limiters, 43 gates, 24 high-pass filters, and more. Twenty-four 16-LED ladder displays provide clear, visible feedback (the good kind!) for each function. And with two programmable, 32-bit floating-point stereo DSP effects engines, packed with 50 reverbs, delays, and other time-based effects (complete with tap tempo), the PreSonus Fat Channel is no-compromise onboard processing that you'll really want to use. Oh, and unlike that towering rack of outboard gear, the StudioLive lets you copy-and-paste settings across multiple channels, save "Scenes" that include every setting on the mixer, or store individual Fat Channel settings.FireWire for Recording, Playback, or ExpansionOnce you're building beautiful live mixes on the StudioLive 24.4.2, you'll definitely want to capture them. Luckily, live recording is a piece of cake with the PreSonus StudioLive. If you have a FireWire cable and a laptop, you now have a 32-track digital recorder. Load any DAW or run the included Capture recording software to multitrack your live performance, either pre- or post-Fat Channel signal processing. Want to use backing tracks live? StudioLive 24.4.2 can play back (and process) up to 26 FireWire channels from your computer. And should you require more channels for mixing a big live show, the FireWire port lets you daisy-chain two StudioLive 24.4.2 mixers for 48 input channels and 8 submix buses. Same goes for studio applications: if you need more than 24 channels for recording, and you don't need a full channel strip for the additional inputs, plug in your PreSonus FireStudio Project, FireStudio Tube, or FireStudio Mobile interface. With all this FireWire recording capability built in, it's no wonder the StudioLive makes such a fantastic analog-style front-end for your project studio. With just a single FireWire cable to connect, you can take this digital mixer anywhere you want to record.Remote-Control Your ConsoleLet's say you're sound-checking a band, or perhaps you're in tech for a theatre show, and you want to hear what your front-of-house mix sounds like up in the balcony. First, plug your StudioLive console into a computer and run the included Virtual StudioLive software. Then grab your Apple iPad and pull up PreSonus' free StudioLive Remote app. You're now free to move about the venue -- tweaking the mix in real time. Go ahead -- get on up on stage and hear the monitor mixes. You can access your most-used mix parameters onscreen, including channel, subgroup, aux send, and main levels, as well as all the Fat Channel effects and graphic EQs. And Virtual StudioLive software lets you make time-stamped backups of the entire mixer. You can even share your presets with friends via email.
