This vintage Guild acoustic is a very rare first year Bluegrass F-47. The serial number is 23932 which corresponds to 1963, the first year of this model. This model is not often available for sale, and even less often found in such great condition with premium detailing and all original parts! This well known, narrow waist orchestra model is highly prized for it's rich, full and versatile character. This guitar reflects those qualities and easily earns its reputation for playability. The mature wood provides a bright distinctive resonance, suitable for a variety of styles, with ample volume and clear top/ bottom end balance.
This guitar is in excellent overall condition and was well maintained in it's original case The body shows reasonably light wear for it's age with just a few small marks on the finish. There are no significant or deep scratches and no nicks or gouges. The finish is clean and bright with a nice gloss.
This model was constructed as a premium high-quality instrument and remains structurally sound with the exception of a stable 1.5" crack that begins and ends at the top of the pick guard. This is common trait of older Guilds due to pick guard shrinkage. Prospective buyers will also be pleased to notice that this guitar has avoided some of the most common and prevalent signs of age. The fingerboard and body binding have not been affected by shrinkage or warping, both are strongly intact. Most impressive is the gorgeous headstock with a near perfect veneer, inlays and original Kolb deluxe machinehead tuners. Eight pearloid block inlays on the fingerboard accompany the straight neck while also demonstrating no fret wear or warping. The bridge is firmly placed as well with no separation or signs of splitting.
This has been professionally set up and adjusted for proper string height an intonation with no buzzing or dead spots. Includes original case, also in great condition.
This is a ONE OWNER instrument we purchased locally from the original owner. It features a 16" narrow-wasit style, mahogany sides and back, Spruce Flat Top, Mahogany back and sides and Bound rosewood fingerboard and bridge. The pickguard is the highlight of this instrument, the attention to detail is amazing. This acoustic has a wonderfully resonant and broken in tone, very easy to play and is great for all picking styles. Its loud but not overpowering and retains a clear top and balanced bottom end. Comes with the original case.
