THANKS FOR CHECKING OUT MY AUCTION. PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE DESCRIPTION AND MY POLICIES BEFORE PLACING YOUR BID. Check out my !Be sure to add me to your ! *Today I am listing the latest installment of mouthpieces and other sax gear which I am selling on consignment for saxophonist Frank Catalano. For those of you who may not be familiar, Frank is a true heavy hitter in the jazz world and has been featured on multiple Grammy winning albums. He is also the quintessential gear hound, having amassed a collection of over 500 mouthpieces! He now endorses and plays Jody Jazz mouthpieces exclusively so he is purging some of his massive collection of mouthpieces he has acquired over many years. Be sure to check out my other items for more great mouthpieces from this collection. There will be more to come later, so add me to your favorites list and check back later to see new additions. This auction is for a vintage Otto Link 'early Babbitt' Tone Edge mouthpiece for tenor saxophone that has been re-faced by master mouthpiece craftsman Brian Powell. The EB era pieces are made of excellent quality hard rubber just like the uber expensive 'slant signature' pieces, but they have a bit more punch to them tonally, so they are highly regarded by players seeking a classic jazz sound with just a bit of an edge to it. This one has been tweaked and opened slightly by Brian Powell of "the Mouthpiece Guys"; one of the best re-facers in the business. The last picture is of the letter from Brian regarding his opinion of the piece and what work was performed on it. Please note that a hard copy of the letter is not included as the original is being kept by Frank because it also has info on another piece he had done at the same time. Brian's work is second to none, and you can be assured that this piece plays even better than it originally did! The new tip opening of .100" is inscribed on the side of the piece along with Brian's initials. This piece was originally a 6*, but is now equal to a 7, so it wasn't opened much. It has a nice thin tip and side rails that are perfectly balanced and the finish work is beautiful. It is in excellent condition with no nicks, chips, or tooth gouges, and it is still shiny and not discolored. It comes in its original box with the Pompano Beach, FL address. This is a great mouthpiece for serious tenor players. This piece will only continue to rise in value, so you can be assured that it is a good investment. Please feel free to email me with any questions. Thanks again for looking!
