THANKS FOR CHECKING OUT MY AUCTION. PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE DESCRIPTION AND MY POLICIES BEFORE PLACING YOUR BID. Check out my !Be sure to add me to your ! *Today I am listing the latest installment of mouthpieces and other sax gear which I am selling on consignment for saxophonist Frank Catalano. For those of you who may not be familiar, Frank is a true heavy hitter in the jazz world and has been featured on multiple Grammy winning albums. He is also the quintessential gear hound, having amassed a collection of over 500 mouthpieces! He now endorses and plays Jody Jazz mouthpieces exclusively so he is purging some of his massive collection of mouthpieces he has acquired over many years. Be sure to check out my other items for more great mouthpieces from this collection. There will be more to come later, so add me to your favorites list and check back later to see new additions. This auction is for a rare Meyer 'New York, USA' mouthpiece for soprano saxophone. It is very rare to find a Meyer soprano mouthpiece from the New York era, and even more so for it to be a large chamber example.
Most Meyers soprano mouthpieces have the typical small circular throat. I don't know how well it can be seen in the pictures, but this one is wide open like a Link slant signature. This is great for someone that uses a vintage pre-WWII soprano (which virtually requires a large chamber mouthpiece), but wants a more modern tone. This one has a #5 tip opening and medium facing curve. I believe this one is all original. It is a little difficult to see the info stamped on the table, but I think it is just from general use wear because the mill markings are still visible around the edge of the table. If it was worked on after production it was only very minor to flatten the table, but I don't think it was. The markings are just all around very lightly stamped on this piece, as they are on all New York, USA Meyers. It might be difficult to see them in the pictures, but if you look closely it is stamped "New York, USA" (close to the beak, not on the shank). The tip, table, and rails are perfectly smooth, and there are no indentations on the beak. This is a great player and super rare piece! Please feel free to email me with any questions. Thanks again for looking!
