Description

WE ARE FLORIDA'S OLDEST VINTAGE GUITAR SHOP !

1966 AMPEG AEB-1 Bass the earliest Custom Color example in Near Mint condition ! This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for any serious Ampeg collector, this 1st year example has a very beautiful original Black custom color factory finish all over, the AEB-1 (fretted) and the AUB-1 (fretless) were the first horizontal electric basses of Ampeg's own design, and they are the most commonly recognized of all the Ampeg Basses, they feature a scroll headstock, similar to Ampeg's Baby Bass, and a rounded body with two large F-holes that go all the way through the body, its fat neck & scroll headstock are stunning, its built-in pickup system is like an upright bass installed under its intricate bridge design, it bears serial # 090 being one of the very 1st ever produced, its factory original "White" pickgard is ultra clean (these always have Black pickgards) & is the very 1st time we have ever seen this on an Ampeg bass, purchased from Bob Barnhill, the Grandson of its original owner, Mr. Louie Johnson, owner of Johnson Music Studios for 35 years on Montecello Rd. in Columbia, South Carolina, Bob’s mother had this gorgeous specimen in hiding since that time, essentially still "New Old Stock" as its never been retailed prior, this is the finest example to exist & is in exceptionally clean 100% original condition, it is a real piece of early Ampeg History & the only example in this special order color combo, a very significant Bass for any serious collector, it comes with a bunch of case candy complete with its original Black Tolex hard Case.
