If you are looking for that vintage "beauty of the burst*" project and require a period correct old grown wood ( this might be just the IDEAL billet for your deep dish carved top re-top or conversation! You are looking at a "bench mark piece" from my own Private Stock Collection with 3 dimensional figuring with highly sought after "ribbon curl"- this one is a little more unique and came from a premium veneer grade log.............Up for bid is for one (1) highly sought after with rarer ribbon flame pattern, slab sawn cut/flat sawn, old growth Eastern Maple (acer rubrum) electric guitar luthier billet. This has a paler vintage yellow patina from storage, exceptional chatoyance with excellent figuring! Excellent growth ring complimented by an excellent tap tone!!!!!Ideal for those that want an ideal period top for an LP conversion or a re-top! LP single-cut outline (non cut-away) on the one face to show fit and size. This is one of the densest piece of red maple I have ever counter as it is about 3.7 pounds per board foot with a brighter tap tone- very close in density of sugar/rock maple! LP single-cut halve outline ("A" & "B" side) for fit and visual reference. There is a pin hole on the one face adjacent to the one side edge (pin hole is approximately 5/8" deep and has a gray ghost streak approximately 4-1/2" long and 1-1/4" away from the one end. This billet has some side edge chip out and has 2 outside corner edge of unsurfaced area (2 gray colored patch)- thickness of the lowest point is 1.900". Some pale spot of graying from stickering. Dimensions (approximate):20-13/16+" long x 7-10/16+" wide x 1.900" thick (at lowest point of unsurfaced area). Old growth, well seasoned (8-10 percent moisture content). Slab sawn cut. Sapwood. This will need properly acclimation to your shop prior to fabrication. Clear shellac/denatured alcohol mixed applied to the surface to help show color, grain and figure (if any). Photographed with exterior natural lighting conditions. Ends sealed with Anchor seal.
