This auction is for one set of Blackwood GREAT HIGHLAND BAGPIPES made in Scotland by KINTAIL. They are chalice top with no beading & combing (1700s style.) The bag is leather by L&M; it feels to me like a small, although it might be a medium. The cords and bag cover are dark green. The bag seems airtight. There is a set of cane reeds that play easily and sound good. Also included are a chanter reed and a reed protector. The chanter is poly, as is the mouthpiece. The end caps of the drones are a slightly translucent imitation horn. The other fittings are a metal that looks like brass (tarnished.) The one photo with flash is not representative of the color of the wood, end caps, or bag cover; I wanted to try to show the woodgrain."KINTAIL SCOTLAND" is imprinted into the chanter and the bass drone. The date on the drone is 1998 and on the chanter, 1999.These pipes do not appear to have been played - no teeth marks on the mouthpiece, no worn holes on the chanter; and the flapper valve, hemp, and reeds look pristine. The reeds were in a plastic bag, not in the pipes. There are a couple of tiny nicks on the wood, and one end cap - the bass, I believe - has a small chip. Two of the metal fittings have split and are, therefore, loose. One is on the chanter stock, the other on the bass drone. No case. The buyer will pay for shipping via USPS Priority Mail for a 7 pound package. Payment is due within 3 days of the end of the auction. Thank you!
