Description
Brand: TAMA Material: Bell Brass
Model: Mastercraft Country/Region of Manufacture: Japan
Size: 6.5"x14" Drum Type: Snare Drum

Up for sale is a 1983 Tama Mastercraft Bell Brass snare drum
It's a 100% original and complete, right down to snare wires and tension rods. (The only non-factory items are the updated Aquarian heads, top and bottom.)
Structurally, the drum is in superb condition. Shell and hoops are totally in-round, bearing edges are razor sharp, throw-off performs flawlessly, tension rods rotate smoothly, and internal muffler works perfectly.
The shell has a beautiful patina from not being finished.
Serial number is #11206 The chrome lugs and diecast hoops shine brightly, though they display some of the typical Tama micro-pitting that's so common with their early '80s drums. Top hoop is the most weathered item, with scuffs and scratches (easily replaced, if desired). It's purely aesthetic.
This drum more than lives up to the hype surrounding it. It sounds superb: it is quite probably the finest sounding and most coveted metal snare drum ever built.
Ive sold both the reissue and this older model. The reason the original has more tone and sensitivity is because of the sharper bearing edges, sand casted porous shell, and the fact that the wires go over the bearing edge. The reissue has a rounded 45 almost like a keplinger, and a spun shell.
This 80's bell brass is probably the only drum ive seen that could do classic concert snare work and then go back to Foo Fighters type back beats all in the same day.
I hate to sell this, but im founding money for a Noble cooley drum set. Sale also includes Humes & Berg Vulcanized Fibre snare case in excellent condition.
