Description
Here's the Epiphone version of a Gibson LG2. Made in Kalamazoo in 1965 in the Gibson/Epiphone factory. This one is the rarer version with rosewood bridge and adjustable rosewood saddle. All original.Playable as-is with decent action too (but will need work eventually) and a tone that's as sweet as a 60's Gibson/Epiphone can deliver. The woodsy and thumpy tone you get from a small body with rosewood bridge is pure ear candy. Rosewood effectively sweeten the harsher high frequencies. This guitar is much more balanced and smoother than my Guild F20, for example, which is much more focused on the mids with a brighter overall tone. The FT45 shines at fingerpicking and light to medium strumming. This one has a narrow nut and a slim but perfectly playable neck (slim 60's necks like Gibson's and Fender "B" necks are my favourite... if you like those, you'll love this one).Physically, here is how i'd describe it;Neck: neck is straight, no breaks, no reset (from my own assumptions). Tuners work well but could use some greasing. Frets are really good as is with plenty of meat for dressing. As you can see, some paint is peeling in front and back of headstock.Body (top): top is cracked in "armrest" area, has been repaired with a "soft-ish" type of glue, but it never bothered me. There's a bit of bellying behind the bridge and that bridge is tilting and lifting slightly. Cool wear around the sound hole (It's been loved. Play it to discover why :). Small crack from pickguard shrinkage and finish crazing allover... and the most beautiful sunburst of all! Overall, its a pretty cool project for someone with luthier skillsBody (back and sides): nothing to report here. No cracks, not much wear but the usual dings. Binding is also solid and excellent. No case, but will be shipped in the most secure way (allow a maximum of 3 days before shipping. Shipping material will be gathered as soon as the item sell)Flat rate shipping and insurance to Canada/USA with Canadapost. This is a no return item so please review pictures carefully. Ask questions if needed.Enjoy!
