Hello,Up for auction:    This is for a late 1940's / early 1950's Slingerland Radio King drum set in Gold Sparkle.  Included is a 26" x 14" bass drum, 13" x 9" tom, 14" x 12" tom, and a 14" x 7" snare drum.  The pictures are going to be the best description regarding condition, originality, etc.  Please inquire about the many additional photos that I have available.    -Overall condition: the bass drum, 13" tom, and snare drum all have dark spotting compared to the 14" tom which has an even, clean gold color.  This is the biggest condition issue (in my opinion).  The hardware, rims, lugs, etc. have some light corrosion/light pitting in spots.  I believe this will buff very well.  Also, there are a few areas of rust, mainly on the tension rods, muffle screws, etc.  There are some scrapes, scratches, dings, etc. throughout the entire kit.  It could use a thorough wipe down and cleaning.  The insides are mostly clean.  I see no extra holes or major damage.  The rods/lugs could all use a good cleaning and grease.  The muffle adjust screws are also a bit rusty and difficult to turn.  -26" x 14" Bass drum:   There are no spurs for the drum.  Also, at one dimension, it is out about 1/4" with a slight warp.  There are nicks along the hoops, and drum.  The heads are good and show some wear.  Part of the wrap along one hoop is beginning to peel.  There is a bent tension rods. -14" x 12" Tom:  This drum is clean without the dark spotting like the others.  Both rims are marked "Slingerland Radio King".  It has a clamp and muffler.  There are some scratches.  The lugs show some light corrosion, and there is a bent rod.-13" x 9" Tom: This drum has a ripped bottom head.  It has a clamp and muffler.  Overall condition issues have been mentioned above.  1 rim is marked. -14" x 7" Snare:  This drum sounds nice but could use an adjustment.  1 rim is signed.  There is some light rust along the hardware.  The throw off comes above the rim and functions well.  Condition characteristics are similar to the others.-Soft Bags: The bags show wear and have some holes.  Overall, clean with no unusual smells.  ...a bit musty.-Conclusion: these drums (circa 1950) are not perfect but have some great potential.  Please understand that drums of this age have there condition issues that are typical for being stored in an attic for 50-60+ years.-I have shipped several complete, vintage kits; so plan on spending some time unpacking  :)  This weighs approximately 50 pounds before packaging, so expect a large and heavy package.  My goal is to ship in one box.
