Here is a vintage (serial number K06203) Conn 6D Double French Horn. This instrument was built in Conn's Elkhart factory, is in very good condition and plays very well. The valves move well with good compression and the slides all move of course. As for the aesthetic condition of the instrument, there are a few small dings and pings, and some light isolated scratching and pitting throughout the horn. All this is visible in the pictures, and none of it affects the playability of the horn. This instrument has been professionally cleaned in our shop, and repaired to full playability. This horn is not lacquered; therefore fingerprints should be wiped off after use if the player wishes for the horn to stay as shiny as it is now; if they are not wiped off then the horn will develop a lovely patina. This instrument comes with a somewhat worn hardshell case and a mouthpiece in good condition.
How the horn plays: Very big, full and warm sound. The tone is colorful and smooth. The horn is very responsive, resonant and free-blowing. The F and Bb side timbres match very well. The high and low registers speak very well and are secure to play in. The horn has an excellent dynamic range, capable of a very full, edgy fortissimo without blatting and a soft, melodious pianissimo without breaking up. It is generally a very nice and fun to play horn. All horns are located at Silver & Brass Music Shop710 N. Curry St. Carson City, NV89703(775) 301-6289
