1963 Fender Deluxe Reverb - Production #1
Estimated price for orientation: 4 999 $
Category: Guitar Amplifiers
Class:
Description Brand: Fender Exact Year: 1963
Up for sale is this extremely rare 1963 Fender Deluxe Reverb production number one amplifier.Deluxe Reverbs are usually described as being made between 1964 and 1967. This is generally accurate, although very few did ship with all 1963 parts. The early models aren notable for their lack of a plastic Fender logo on the grill cloth, as well the the FEIC ("Fender Electric Instruments Company") faceplate. This one also has some features that stretch back into the brownface era.The amp is nearly all-original. The only things that have been changed or are missing are the filter caps, one back panel screw, and some of the "washers" for the back panel screws. All the original caps that were removed and replaced are contained in a bag with the amplifier. My amp tech takes off the paper wrap on the old caps, and wraps them on the new caps so that even the guts retain their vintage look. It's a nice touch that I always appreciate. Everything else, including the tubes, is original to the amplifier. The amp also comes with the original footswitch.1963 Deluxe Reverbs are as rare as hen's teeth. This one is extremely early, and still has a production number 1 label in the cabinet. The speaker is also a 12K5, which is what you usually see on brownface Fenders, and not blackface ones. The reverb tank and bag are also an earlier model, which were fixed down to the bottom of the chassis with small nails. The amp is in excellent 9/10 condition. There are a few minor spots of wear to the tolex, and some mild discoloration to the grill cloth just below the controls for the normal channel, and the first few controls for the vibrato channel.I realize that I'm pricing this above market for even 64 deluxe reverbs, but that is because I think the collectible value demands a premium. I'm also not in a big hurry to ship this out of my collection, but thought I would test the market. This was among the first blackface amplifiers made and shipped from the factory. I don't think I've ever seen another 63 Deluxe Reverb for sale.If you want it, but now before it's gone. You won't see another one come up for sale anytime soon. The amp sounds wonderful, with glassy cleans and great blackface crunch when cranked.Price is $4999.99. Shipping is $99.99 to the domestic USA.
