Today, we have new components at our disposition that were not on the market a few years ago. New components inspire new circuit layouts that were avoided until very recently because of inherent technical limitations. With the Q-Faktor, we focused on two aspects. Firstly, to develop a device that represents today's state of the art in technology and sound possibilities, and secondly, to mark a new path in interface design and to build an equaliser that is truly intuitive to operate. The result is the Q-Faktor. DesignThere is nothing wrong with applying the Q-Faktor in a mastering context. But most of all, the Q-Faktor is a creative EQ, offering you a wide palette of options for shaping the sound, radically if needed, without harming the integrity of the signal. Consequently, the design of the Q-Faktor supports an intuitive workflow. The LED-based user interface hides any unnecessary information and guides the attention towards the setting that is being modified. All parameters can be captured with one glance, there is no need to combine the readings of different dials in order to know what the unit is doing. The haptic design of the control surface even allows you to operate the Q-Faktor without eye contact, so that you can entirely rely on what your ears tell you. TechnologyAn equaliser is a complex unit with many different parts that interact with each other. Below you find some details about the major design elements that make the Q-Faktor so unique. The heart of the Q-Faktor is its passive filter network. Here, hand-made "zero-?-coils" are at work, sporting very low magnetic deviations and therefore a high Q-factor and an equally high efficiency. Each frequency is using a dedicated coil, allowing a passive boost of up to 24 dB while maintaining an extremely linear impulse response and distortions that are practically below the measurement threshold. The result is a completely new perspective in shaping the audio signal, where even radical changes will not alter the integrity of the source. The meticulously selected capacitors in the filter network form the second major aspect. In the Q-Faktor, each frequency range has its own, specially adjusted circuit design for optimum signal processing, linear impulse response, and the least amount of distortion. more at:
