BUFFET CRAMPON R13 Clarinet in A.  Serial Number:160726 (1975).  Made during the 150th Anniversary year of Buffet Crampon.  Grenadilla wood is in excellent condition; no cracks.  I was able to find only one flaw in the wood; the tiniest chip in the lower joint tenon (that fits into bell).  See CU pic #12.   Cork pads on upper joint in very good condition; they seal extremely well and have a lot of life left in them.  Mostly felt pads on bottom joint (there are 2 cork pads); lower joint pads seal very well.  I personally would change the pads affected by the bridge mechanism to felt to allow finer adjustment.  There is some wear on plating on keys, but what one would expect from a 40+ year old quality clarinet that was well cared for.  Joint corks are in good shape.  Tenons are crisp, not rounded or worn (though there is that tiny chip!).  There are two barrels: what seems to be the original 65 mm Buffet barrel and also a Buffet/Moennig barrel labeled "R13 A 650" (65mm).  To my ear, the Moennig barrel makes the instrument play its best intonation.  This instrument is in very good adjustment and plays very well.   Comes in a Buffet 150th Anniversary double case with zippered cover in good condition; the case bears the label of Wichita Band Instrument Co.  I regret selling this one; I believe the clarinets made during the 150th anniversary were given extra special attention - that's my opinion.  I'm a doubler and must sell this beauty to help pay for a very expensive handmade flute (and.....there are no gigs demanding clarinet in A at the present!). Why buy a vintage Buffet clarinet?  The following is my opinion: At the time (1975) the R13 was the top-of-the-line instrument.  If you were to buy a brand new R13 clarinet in A, it would likely cost many 1000's of dollars more and not be the best model offered.  (Divine A clarinet: List over $8000; Festival A clarinet: List over $5000; Tosca Greenline A clarinet: list over $7500).  Sold AS IS; No Returns.  Please study the pics carefully before bidding.  Ships worldwide via Bay Global Shipping Program.
