Up for sale today is a customized Stratocaster with lots of added extras. This tribute guitar is based on the Fender American Standard 60th Anniversary Commemorative Stratocaster but instead of an Ash body it features a rare 2-piece Koa body (based on 1954 specs) that's finished in Tung oil (which really shows off the natural dimples in the wood very nicely). Like the commemorative Stratocaster, it has three specially designed, special edition 1954 single-coil Strat pickups on board for killer sound that's "hotter" than traditional single coil pick ups. Plug her in and this guitar comes alive and you can feel its vibrations as you shred away. Gold hardware and deluxe tuners with pearloid buttons complete the look. It's a great guitar all around but it turned out to be more of a showpiece that just sits in its case instead of a guitar I play every day. There's a slight scratch on the lower left front of the body. It looks more like a slight indentation than a scratch (the finish isn't damaged) and while I did try to photograph it (it's in the close up pictures of the body), it was difficult to capture as it has to hit the light just right (I could see it but not get it in a photo). So the body is American (Koa wood only comes from Hawaii), the neck is a Fender stock maple neck (with some nice accents in the headstock and first couple of frets), the pickups, bridge, and tuners are all Fender American made. Set up and intonation was done by a professional luthier (not me) and was assembled and built with attention to detail. It was a lot of fun to build her, now I'm looking to give her a good home.
