This is a stunning horn. This is a vintage Alexander 103 double french horn . This horn is constructed from yellow brass, with nickel silver accents and a gold brass leadpipe. The horn can be set to stand in either Bb or F as the player desires, and has been fitted with a "flipper" hand rest for greater player comfort. The horn also features a screw bell and a Bb third slide water key, and has a bore of .470" (12mm). This instrument plays very well. The valves have excellent compression, and the slides all move of course. As for the aesthetic condition of this horn, there are a couple of small dings throughout the horn, as well as several areas of rippling and scratching. The bell tail and flare have seen some dent removal, and there is a repair to the bell rim. The rim of the bell flare is also not perfectly flat. All this is visible in the pictures, and none of it affects the playability of the horn. This instrument has been professionally cleaned in our shop and repaired to full playability. This horn is not lacquered; therefore fingerprints should be wiped off after use if the player wished for the horn to stay as shiny as it is now; if they are not wiped off then the horn will develop a lovely patina. This instrument comes with a somewhat worn Alexander screw bell hardshell case, and an Alexander MY13 mouthpiece in good condition.All horns are located at Silver & Brass Music Shop710 N.
