MPN: lap steel guitar

1935/36 Rickenbacher B6 Electro, lap steel guitar in great condition.  Likely, one of the first 300 B6 (Bakelite-6 string) lap steel guitars made.  Often called Hawaiian guitars (as opposed to Spanish), these were the very first versions of electric guitars period.  The Banjo” Rickenbacker metal laps steels were the very first.  The Bakelite’s were the 2nd.
Comes in original case, still functional & funky, spare control dial, and original single Grover tuners (only the earliest ones had these).  One of then was broken and has been replaced with a modern Grover single.  Will include an old pigtail cord shown in the case in one of the pics.
This Rick comes with the famous 1 1/2’ horseshoe pickups (later versions had a 1 1/4’ horseshoe) with the knurled adjustment nuts (another indication of its early date).   Rewound by expert Jason Lollar and sounding like the day it was born, this rebuilt pick-up really screams.
#18811229 in raised numbers on the body and PAT PEND on tabs on each side of the pickup, (therefore is earlier than 8/10/37).
The volume control knob looks like an old Philco radio knob and has been seen on other early B-6’s.  I think it was original to this guitar. However,  I'll include an aftermarket chicken head control knob that is not original to the guitar.   Tuned to D major.  This fantastic lap steel comes in its original green felt case, still functional and gorgeous.
Whether you like wild  distinctive steel sounds (over-driven) or laid back Hawaiian lullabies, this fine and original instrument can do it all.
Only selling it because I'm a lefty and my guitar instructor got tired of standing on his head.  I'm going to switch out my '48 National Chicagoan to left hand set-up and learn, may buy another Rick one day....I think someone will love this guitar.
I will look at reasonable offers.Shipping:  I am offering free shipping to Canada and the U.S. only.  Shipping to Central & South America, Western Europe and beyond would have to be calculated and then added to the listed price.
