Here is a used Pomeroy Mandolin (bandolim). It plays great, it's well made, excellent tuners, straight neck. Maple neck, back and sides. Engelmann Spruce top. Bright highs, full lows. Excellent for blues and choro music. Works great with a thicker pick. Comes with a well-padded Access gig bag and strap. Here is what Don at Pomeroy Mandolins had to say about it when I emailed him."I only made a few of those. Mostly I build archtop mandolins but years ago I was trying to find a way to build a mandolin that was more "affordable" and might attract a wider window of buyers, being less expensive. A friend brought me an old "bandolim", which is a South American mandolin designed for playing Choro type music. I wondered if a modified version might be acceptable in a more old timey, American setting. I was happy with the results and built about 6 of them I think. I sold most of them to local players but decided in the end that they really were not worth the effort. I couldn't make them for less than a 1,000 dollars."
