Description: Offered for sale my Gibson Les Paul Elegant, manufactured in 2004. It has a gorgeous AAA figured Butterscotch Quilt Maple top, mahogany body and one piece mahogany neck.  The body has dynamic sound chambers that not only make the guitar lighter but add to its already brilliant resonance.
The strategy of enhancing an already great tone wood like alder by carving a honeycomb pattern of small "tone chambers" inside the body has been utilized on a handful of great instruments over the years. It is a complex and expensive process, but by opening all of that additional surface area inside the body, the guitar has much greater ability to respond to the vibration of the strings with the resonance that separates the very good guitars from the great ones. Tone chambers simply increase the finer tonal properties already present in the wood, they don't change the wood's essential character. And a secondary benefit of the honeycomb construction is weight reduction. The guitar has cream colored binding around the body and neck, and multi-colored abalone trapezoid inlays deep in the ebony fret board. It comes with Classic '57 Humbuking pick ups, a tune-o-matic bridge and nickle hardware. It has the Les Paul Custom Shop logo on the back of the head stock and comes with the original Custom Shop Hard Shell case. The action is low, the guitar is fast with minimal fret ware.
This model has been discontinued and is destined to be a collectors item. The guitar is all-original with no mods, coming with its original Custom Shop Certificate, in original Gibson Custom Shop case. The figured quilt maple top is to die for. The 24.75 inch scale length neck is made from a single piece of mahogany. It has an ebony fretboard with 22 frets with white binding around the neck. The binding also matches the pickup covers and 3-way pickup selector label. One interesting thing about this guitar is its compound radius fretboard. The fretboard at the first fret is flatter and gradually becomes rounder as you get towards the 12th fret. This allows for easier access to the upper registers while lead playing at the same time leaving the lower registers more adapted to chordal playing. The neck also has a long tenon to increase its connection to the body. The pickups and electronics are all Gibson. It has the traditional two volume and two tone controls (one for each pickup) with a 3-way pickup selector wired: neck, neck+bridge, bridge. The pickups themselves have that great vintage sound. They are the ’57 Classic humbuckers which are replicas of the PAF (Patent Applied For) pickups found on the late 50’s Gibsons. The ’57 classic has a full rich and has enough to give it plenty of crunch. These pickups have Alnico II magnets and use vintage style enamel coated wire. The covers like the rest of the guitar’s hardware is nickel plated for years of wear.I must say that it's a perfect Les Paul in terms of playability and sound. I would be glad to pass it to the good hands knowing that it would be a pleasure for a new owner to keep and play this unmatched instrument from the cream of the crop of the Gibson Custom Shop. The Gibson Les Paul Elegant is the essence of Gibson past and future, the "Holy Grail" of guitars sporting the best features, and is still one of the best instruments to-date from the Gibson Custom Shop.
Even unplugged the guitar produces a clear and loud acoustic voice. Plug it in a good tube amp and get the classic great crunch and bite of a fine Les Paul that we all know and love.
