Factory Patches restoredFluff:Fantastic sounding synth, and VERY easy to navigate and use.
Many people say it's quite similar to a Juno but with a harder edge to it.
I don't tend to find the need to compare a synth with another and just say it sounds how it sounds.. Great!Has many great features, including 2 independent EGs, split vice mode and external sampler input so you can run external audio through its filters etc. (I think it was the Akai S950 that connected to it, can't remember, look it up!)Being one of the last great analogue polysynths of the 80s this has a good midi implementation and a very 'of the time' bank of factory presets which I have restored.Condition:After giving it a thorough clean and service, it's in a very respectable looking condition. No nasty gashes or scrapes, there are a couple of blemishes in the control panel around one or two of the buttons, but without very close scrutiny this is a very nice looking synth in good condition and will look great in your rack with the rest of your collection. Many of the AX60 led lenses (the shiny plastic parts covering where the leds shine through the panel) tend to get pushed due to the original glue giving way, these have all been removed, cleaned and reglued with epoxy.
There is one slider cap missing, which I can help to find..Polyphony - 6 VoicesOscillators - 6 VCOsMemory - 64 PatchesFilter - Lowpass analog filterVCA - Standard ADSRKeyboard - 61 keysArpeg/Seq - ArpeggiatorControl - MIDI (2 parts)Date Produced - 1986Here's the vintage synth blurb:The AX60 is among some of the last true analog polysynths of the mid-eighties. It was Akai's answer to the hugely successful Roland Juno series and Yamaha's new digital DX-series. The AX60 is a programmable six-voice synth with a nice LFO, lowpass (VCF) filter, envelope sections, and more. An eight-voice version, the , was already available.Programming this synth is easy using dedicated sliders, knobs and/or buttons for its parameters. It also has a useful noise generator and some other cool functions that include auto-tuning, chorus, a multi-mode arpeggiator and a keyboard that can be split into two key-zones, making it somewhat bi-timbral. All six voices can be stacked in unison mode for a powerful and thick lead sound. Its features and sound make the AX60 a worthy alternative to Roland's . The AX60 may have been used by Bjork.
