It would be almost impossible that you'll come across a better version of this guitar and I say this as a studio owner and person who's 43 years of age and seen many instruments . The reason is that when I bought this in the early 2000s , I wanted it perfect like ... like as good as any tele American or Japanese I didn't care , I wanted to bring this thing to the highest level. The setting up of this guitar required amazing luthier level care because even stock American Guitars have potential for little issues to overcome ... I've seen American Tele's that have intonation problems and stock Mexico ones that were perfection . It happens all the time . Point is that I am one of those that loves the 1978 Antigua finish and it's a polarizing group... some vehemently love it and will only play them, others could care less and that's what makes life so great - you could love one thing and someone else won't . These have a cult following that seems to grow all the time .  The listing was up before and had a non payer.... there's no shortage of interest and actually I've never had more of a range of interested parties on one thing . It's entertaining to say the least.  What's the deal ?  I've played it very seldom and it's in my storage at a studio , I'm a guitar owner , not a player . I'm an engineer producer that played it on a track back when I first got it set up and yes it does play perfectly from the open tuning to the top frets and intonation is perfect . Nobody will claim those things in their listings of these guitars because they probably aren't and it took some real geniuses to be able to keep original hardware and make this baby sing . Maple board is lightweight and feels like coco butter . The frets are basically untouched - you have a like new 2002 , 1978 Reissue Japanese Fender Telecaster that I would call "Affordable Vintage" all stock untouched!!!  like the chrome ashtray pickup cover ? That is sick . The small chip on the bottom and light mark were actually there in the shop when I bought it and it's been in its case for the 99.9% of its life other than getting it made perfect (you won't have to likely set it up) and playing it less than a 1/2 of a day overall and ... I don't solo , so the thing was played rhythmically on a backing track and the frets are immaculate .  You're looking at a like new 2002 - 1978 Reissue 1 of 600 Antigua Telecasters Q serial number and I'm looking forward to you getting this thing and making it sing , because keeping it locked up is a crime . It's meant to be played and the price is fair .  It's a retail $700 in 2002 ,  $300 of setup including a modification to the nut for intonation, its value is going to always increase and it's a limited edition .  Enjoy your affordable vintage Fender Telecaster that you'll play and wonder how this one got by you . friends will try it thinking they won't be blown away but they will. And so will you .
