Up for auction is a vintage (serial number 03294) Blessing Double French Horn. This instrument is a copy of the Conn 6D, meaning that the wrap, bore, and playing characteristics of the Conn 6D were copied. It in good condition and plays very well. The valves move well with very good compression and the slides all move of course. As for the aesthetic condition of the instrument, there are some isolated patches of small dings and some light scratching throughout the instrument. There is also some scarring on the bell throat and a reinforcing collar on the leadpipe. This is visible in the pictures, and none of it affects the playability of the horn. This instrument has been professionally cleaned in our shop and repaired to full playability. This horn has had the old lacquer removed to improve its tone, as well as for aesthetics. Therefore this horn is finished in pure brass, and fingerprints should be wiped off after use if the player wished for the horn to stay as shiny as it is now; if they are not wiped off then the horn will develop a lovely patina. This instrument comes with a somewhat worn case and a mouthpiece in good condition.How the horn plays: Very open, full, bright and lively sound; horn is very responsive and free-blowing; Bb side slightly brighter in timbre than the F side, which is typical; low and high registers speak very well - all ranges of the horn speak well; the horn is capable of easily playing in the extreme fortissimo without breaking up and has a slightly edgy, raw quality at that volume; the horn is also capable of producing a very full, warm pianissimo without breaking up All horns are located at Silver & Brass Music Shop710 N.
