Seriously classy, top end piece from Zion. This is their Classic model and is presented in a lovely, rich cherry sunburst over a quilted maple cap. The body is in mahogany with an ebony veneer between the body and the top - now that is cool! Hard rock maple neck with a sumptuous ebony finger board and loaded with Seymour Duncan pickups (JB in the bridge with 2 X Alnico 2s). Wilkinson trem and locking Sperzels take care of the hardware.  Everything is 'over engineered' on these guitars. Take the input jack for example, it is a locking Neutrik unit that means you have to push a button to release your cable (no chance of standing on it and losing your sound) but that is then recessed into to beautifully sculpted body so it doesn't spoil the elegant outline. Sonically it is very interesting, when using the bridge pickup the mahogany and maple impart themselves on the tone and you get that big, full, fat sound that these woods are famous for but go to the single coils and the bolt neck seems to control the tonality and it gets all jangly, wiry and sparkly. It really does make you think that this is where brand 'G' and brand 'F' meet. Virtually no play wear whatsoever and without the tiniest bit of slight tarnishing to the gold you would be hard pressed to identify this as being pre owned. It was £3299 15 years ago and is in collector condition. Zion guitars really are at the top of the tree with build quality that makes some of those other, well known US boutique makers guitars look like they were knocked up in someone's shed. Try something different - you'll like it I'm sure.
