A beautiful antique german violin made after Nicolo Amati circa 1900.Fine antique german violin made circa 1900 after Nicolo Amati. This superb instrument has been made with the best choice of woods. The top is made of two pieces of spruce of very regular narrow grain, widening towards the edges. The back is made of a single piece of wonderfuly flamed maple. The ribs, neck and head are of the same wood. The varnish, of a golden-brown colour, is entirely original. A very nice instrument of the german school!The violin is in an excellent condition, with just two tiny marginal hairlines at saddle.The instrument shows on the Inside back the apocryphal label of "Nicolaus Amatus fecit in Cremona 1646".The violin has been entirely revised and set-up, including a rosewood tailpiece with bone fret, a Despiau bridge and Thomastik Dominant new strings set. The pegs are mid-20th century, and are very nice with olive gold ends.The violin comes with its certificate, including a full description of the instrument and a $3000 valuation. The instrument comes with a new rectangular case of quality. Insured shipping to EU $50 and US $75.The sound of the violin is deep and warm, mature, easy to play and with a good projection, a great german concert instrument.Dimensions are the following :Body length : 362 mm.Upper bouts : 172 mm.Middle bouts : 111 mm.Lower bouts : 208 mm.Happy bidding !
