After much deliberation I’ve decided to let my vintage 1970 original Laney Supergroup 100 watt head go. With Laney reaching its 50 year anniversary they are reissuing the supergroup as the LA100BL and here is your chance to grab an original for less than the soon to be released re-make. The supergroup was originally designed for Black Sabbath’s Tony Iommi and was his go-to amp on all of the early Sabbath albums. This is a particularly good one in original condition and has been maintained faithfully. The only significant change is the original bulgin socket has been changed for a modern IEC. The amp is issue free, no scratchy pots or weird noises. One of the main aspects in the sound of the Supergroup is the Partridge transformers which are highly sought after. This amp is loud and produces big fat and clear cleans and when wound up really starts to roar, producing a focused, punchy overdrive and it’s famous mammoth low end which is why the supergroup is loved by doom/stoner bands. The amp comes with JJ EL34’s which are great but if you’re planning on running this amp into overdrive regularly, you’ll need to put some NOS valves in as the Supergroup runs at a higher voltage than most modern ampsI’ll ship the amp pretty much anywhere but please contact me first and I’ll give you a shipping quote.
