Their discrete design offers the ability to capture a perfect summation of even/odd order harmonics. The results are what create that ‘larger than life’ or Hi-Fi sound-scape found on nearly every hit record. Bae/Neve 1084 design can do this without loosing any musical articulation captured by using Very High-end condenser/ribbon microphones. The 1084 design will impress you by smoothing out problematic spikes/transients on overheads or even a 2-bus without seeming too harsh or offensive – maintaining the open top-end or silky sheen to come through. The Neve style Design (BAE 1084) hand-wired discrete analog electronics can be dialed in to create a compressor-type response on the low/mid and upper frequencies, resulting in a very smooth, full, larger than life recording. If you've not heard - you've got to try one, then be tempted to re-record/re-mix TRACs you felt were print-worthy!Top Producers will use the DI inputs to fatten samplers or synths and even drum mixes since the DI can handle line levels. The B.A.E. 1084 equalizer is very broadband and musical. It has a hi-pass filter with four frequencies- 45Hz, 70Hz, 160Hz and 360Hz. It has a lo-pass filter with five frequencies- 6kHz, 8kHz, 10kHz, 14kHz and 18kHz. The low end of this equalizer is so tight that you can boost 220Hz for more punch and not introduce a muddy character so typical of most mic pres. The mid band has six frequencies- 350Hz, 700Hz, 1.6kHz, 3.2kHz, 4.8kHz and 7.2kHz. Also in addition has a "Hi/Lo-Q" button to narrow boost/cut filter bandwidth in the mids. The high band controls a shelving filter that is selectable between - 10kHz, 12kHz and 16kHz.
