Description Body Type: Solid Model: Les Paul Special String Configuration: 6 String Dexterity: Right-Handed Exact Year: 1959 Brand: Gibson Country/Region of Manufacture: United States
Vintage 1959 Gibson Les Paul Special project guitar. Includes vintage 1959 Gibson alligator case. This is a project guitar, with no parts included. It is being sold "as is." It will need work and/or a restoration to get it into playing order. That being said, it is still old Gibson 1959 wood (body, neck, and fretboard), and it still has some decent potential, if someone wanted to invest the time and effort. I will try my best to describe the guitar here, but please do not expect this guitar to be a collector's item when you receive it - it will require work, parts, hardware, and electronics. Also, please take a look at all 12 photos. Here are the details:1. Has been refinished all over (body, neck, and headstock).2. Has had a headstock repair (before the refin).3. Neck was reset and reattached (before the refin).4. Cracks are on the back of the headstock (see photos) - these cracks don't show all the way through to the front of the headstock.5. The front pickup cavity was plugged and moved further to the rear - because the neck joint was not stable in the original location (it is a '59, so the original neck pickup location was right up against where the fretboard ended, which was a weak design by Gibson).6. The fretboard and neck binding are original, but a couple of the small pearl dot fretboard inlays have been replaced.7. Nice, decently thick neck profile. I measured it at approximately 0.90 inches at the first fret.8. Some sort of weird black recessed tailpiece studs into the top of the body (see photos) - they would have to be plugged if you wanted to restore this guitar correctly. I am not sure how large these black recessed pieces are - it is difficult to tell, with the refin. There are also some holes in the top from a Bigsby style tailpiece that was on the guitar at one point. I don't know what you might find underneath the finish on the top of the body, but you should figure that you will probably have to plug some spots with mahogany if you truly want to restore this guitar correctly.9. Old '59 alligator case is pretty beat up. The case is missing the center accessories compartment and the center neck support. But it is still basically functional as a case.$50 shipping in the USA via UPS ground. Sorry, no buyers outside the USA - I will only ship in the USA. Payment by PayPal. Sorry, no returns. Thanks for looking!
