Early F. Besson Brevetee "Prototype" Cornet (w/ star) (c. 1887)40 Medals of Honour
Serial #: 37xxxBeautiful ornate floral engraving on bell with gorgeous light-purple/pink finger buttons (which look like glass). A true antique gem with history.
Some plating wear throughout, though the shepherd's crook has considerable wear to the plating, as does the condensation valve area.
All valves and slides move, though the valves would likely benefit from re-plating/re-building.Minor dings/rippling, though I'd say nothing to severe considering the horn's age. There is a patch on the bell (which is self-evident in the picture showing the bell). Not sure if this is a result of previous repair work, but it's nature has yet to have been confirmed.Included accessories:2 leadpipes (one is considerably longer than the other, possibly for the key of A). The longer of the 2 lead pipes seems to have some especially sizable dings/dents.What seems to be a brass mouthpiece adapter
3 mouthpieces (1 of which is a Hawkes and Son, which I believe is a model 2, and 1 of which is a Besson Brevetee, which seems to be stamped with a 3)
An additional slide (possibly to change the instrument to the key of A, low-pitch tuning, etc.)1 Hawkes and Son case engraved with the name Morley (period, though not likely original to the instrument)
Lyre clamp (which can optionally be attached to the 3rd valve slide)Threaded lyre (not easily attachable to the instrument)Please feel free to ask any questions that you may have. Grab this beauty while she's still available. Unfortunately, I just don't have the resources to justify keeping her. I not only admire the horn, but also its historical value. As such, the horn will be packed with love.
