A very rare and sought after 5 string banjo by master maker Alfred Weaver. Lots of information is online about this man and his instruments, widely regarded as the best English maker of his time.
The instrument is in lovely used vintage condition, plenty of age related marks and wear, but nothing to adversely affect sound or playability. No cracks, and the frets are not badly worn.
As can be seen in some photos, the only issue is a broken tuning head and peg. The head is present (in 3 pieces I'm afraid), and could be glued back on. The peg the string attaches to and goes around is holding the current string fine and works ok, it just had a crack in it and is pictured for honesty.
Comes in its vintage case with some new / old strings, and a beautiful vintage tension tool. I imagine the bridge is a replacement.
A fine instrument from a top class maker. Collection from Suffolk much preferred but I will post within the UK only.
