Here we have a fine old Mirecourt full size, Concert violin. The label inside reads: Antonius Stradiuarius Cremonenfis Faciebat Anno 1728 with ATS in a circle This is a beautifully made violin, with a deeply flamed Maple back, sides, and neck, with a fine to medium grained Spruce top. All in good condition considering its age, with some minor scratches to the body, and one small repair to the top left hand shoulder, which has been reinforced on the inside with cleats of wood. The fingerboard, tailpiece, and pegs are all made from Ebony. It has been set up with a new bridge, with a low action, and a new set of Dominant strings. The tone of this instrument is lovely, with a clear, deep, resonant tone. This complete outfit comes with a new light weight case, with shoulder straps, and music compartments, a good quality Brazilian hardwood bow, which has been re-haired, new binding and thumb grip fitted with the letters DODD stamped on the handle, and a new tub of Rosin. All in all a beautiful old instrument, that sounds as good as it looks. Thank you for looking.
