1926 GOLDEN BEAUTY ! THE BUESCHER TRUE TONE SERIES III ALTO SAXOPHONE #1 NECK
Estimated price for orientation: 799 $
Category: Saxophones
Class:
Description Brand: Buescher Key Finish: Gold Plated - Polished Skill Level: Professional Model: True Tone Body Finish: Gold-Plated Matt Exact Year: c.1926 Body Material: Brass
Up for consideration is a 1926-1927 era Buescher True Tone Alto in gold plate finish. I would estimate 95-99% intact finish look at the photos, I can send more. It comes with a neck marked 1 (image 4). Bell engraving is crisp and very elaborate (image 1). Left table includes 4 rollers most modern design of this series. All snap on resonators are present except for upper stack C (image 9). I did not remove this pad to determine if the snap is still present. Professional Front F assembly is part of this design. Only pieces missing is the lyre holder screw and C key resonator snap.I did take this sax apart and gave it a 2 hr polish, more time invested should make this sax look even better. All key tubes and screws were cleaned with butane and lubricated upon reassembly. I did not do anything to the pads or springs. All posts are straight, all rollers are free as are the screw that hold them in place. every screw and rod came out easily and it appears, based upon the corks that this has been serviced since new, and the pads have an orientation mark that aligns them with the key stem. The low B pad is in the worst shape (image 9 &12) but some how still seals. After re-assembly all the keys operated freely and pads sealed to the best of their ability. This sax produces a full sweet tone which will be enhanced with a re-pad, felts, corking and finetuning. Neck cork will need to be replaced as well. This is a great candidate for a quick easy restoration!Sale includes Sax, Neck, tenon insert, a mouthpiece cap and probably original Buescher case, no mouthpiece or other equipment. The mouth piece that came with this sax is currently listed on Ebay, check my other sales for more saxes and mouthpieces, I will be listing a HENTON metal/HR soon.I will include the mouthpiece and a ligature if you opt for the buy it now price, they make a fine pair, from some test playing!
